CREATIVE PROCESS

I like to start things off with an informal chat via email or over the phone. If it feels right and you want to see where it goes I’ll send through an optional questionnaire to help you organise your thoughts prior to attending a Garden Consultation at your site. Once there, I’ll perform a comprehensive site assessment – taking notes and photographs of site conditions such as natural light, existing views, drainage and services, soil profile and geology, and vegetation, as well as exploring how you intend to live with and within your new space. Afterwards, I’ll prepare a Client Brief based upon what I’ve learnt from our time together, as well as a Fee Structure for the development of your Concept Pack and Construction Drawings.

Once you’ve formally engaged my services, an initial Concept Pack will be prepared and presented, outlining the plan and an indicative plants and materials palette. Early on in the design process I like to keep an open line of communication which allows me to get to the heart of your ambitions, working towards a solution that best fits your wants, needs, budget, and timeframe.

Once the design is confirmed and locked in, I’ll prepare full Construction Drawings which can be used by a trusted landscaping contractor to bring your new garden to life.

I’m passionate about making spaces feel like they belong, both to you and to their surrounds - this ethos is often reflected in my choice of materials and plant selection. If your property has a nature strip I encourage you to consider planting there as well (STCA) – both as a benefit for local wildlife, and to foster a sense of connection to your community. I met most of my neighbours from saying g’day out on the tools!

GARDEN CONSULTATION

If you’re in need of garden guidance I can visit your property and share my experience with you, offering practical advice on how to improve or refresh your outdoor space. This could involve identifying or diagnosing problem areas, recommending remediation processes, or suggesting plants if you haven’t had the best of luck so far.

A Garden Consultation is often the first step on the path to getting a full Landscape Design, and this Garden Consultation is included as part of that package.

A Garden Consultation includes the following:

  • Site Visit with full Site Assessment

LANDSCAPE DESIGN

As a qualified Landscape Designer I can offer valuable insights and experience to help revitalise your garden space. I will work with you, developing your dream garden from a mud-map through to shovel-ready plans, preparing a tailored solution that thoughtfully satisfies your brief, while being kind to our environment and beneficial for local wildlife.

Afterwards, I can connect you to trusted contractors for the build, and help source and supply plants at below-retail prices, and even join you in the soil to ensure the design intent is honoured through to the very end.

A Concept Design Pack includes the following:

  • Garden Consultation

  • Concept Pack

  • Concept Development

  • Construction Drawings

  • Maintenance Plan (optional extra)

  • Nature Strip Revegetation Plan (optional extra)

The cost of a design can vary greatly depending on the scale and complexity of the design. My design fees typically average 7-10% of your allocated construction budget, which faily reflects the time required to prepare a thoughtful, personal, and comprehensive design.
